I’m Robert DiPietro, a PhD trained ex-Nvidian and ex-Amazonian, and the founder of Guided Owl LLC.

Who will I work with?

What are their qualifications?
Education. I obtained my PhD from Johns Hopkins University, where my thesis focused on AI and its applications to medicine. I also have degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering.
Experience. I have 8+ years of experience solving difficult and impactful technical challenges. Before founding Guided Owl, I worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Nvidia, and Amazon.
Communication. I have published much of my work, written a well-received book chapter on recurrent neural networks, and developed multiple courses at Johns Hopkins, including its first Deep Learning Laboratory.
What principles make Guided Owl stand out?
Honesty. Most firms have good intentions, but what happens when conversations get uncomfortable? I promise to always be up front with you, especially when doing so is difficult.
Simplicity. A trend I’ve repeatedly observed is unnecessary complexity snowballing and derailing projects, often because of just a few bad incentives. When I offer a solution, it’s not to boost revenue or my resume. It’s because I believe the solution is effective yet as simple as possible.
Clarity. I understand and appreciate that your expertise differs from my own. I try very hard to present solutions and tradeoffs clearly, so that we both fully understand why certain solutions make sense, and why others don’t.

Preliminary Discussion. What data is available to help achieve your vision? How will we measure success?
Preliminary Analysis. What are possible solutions and trade-offs (risks, resources required, …)?
Understanding Your Data. What does your data look like? How much effort is required to gather and curate the data needed to achieve your vision?
Revised Analysis. Have solutions and trade-offs changed now that we have a better understanding of your data?
Proof of Concept. What does a minimal yet functional demonstration of your vision look like? How quickly can we bring it to life?
Integrating, Hardening, Optimizing. How can we transition from the minimal prototype to a full solution?
